As promised in Part 1 of this little 2016/2017 re- and preview here a few short bullet points about what’s coming up next year. When it comes to 2017 nothing overly specific is planned yet. As mentioned before I am not overly fond of fixed resolutions but I would love to direct my focus to a few key areas…
I am going to learn Italian (or at least I’ll try)
I have never liked studying… never… until I was out of the school system. Interesting thought in and of itself… for another time though. A couple of years ago, I signed up for a 2-year English course on a whim and loved it. So, since I always wanted to be able to speak different languages I decided (again, on a whim) to sign up for an Italian course starting in April. We’ll see how that works out for me. 😉
I want to make travel a priority
I love to travel! I am pretty much the definition of a homebody but travelling is that one big exception. While huge monthlong trips to exotic places are not feasible right now (the time will come, though) I am looking forward to incorporate quite a few short trips around Europe this year. First stop Rome!!! Can’t wait! 🙂
Keep learning and working on growing my business
While I am not the most patient person in general, when it comes to my photography business I plan on growing it slowly and steadily. I don’t want to do it all. I don’t want to take every single job that’s offered to me. I want to work with people I like and who like me in return, with people that share my vision and values. To do that, I am willing to start out slow because let’s face it, in the end speed doesn’t matter as long as you move forward.
This is such a cliché but especially over the last one to two years I have begun to think about how I can give back and support nonprofits and organizations that are important to me. I was super impressed by what the lovely Madeleine from DariaDaria did this year with Four Paws, or what Paul Nicklen (among others) is doing through SeaLegacy, but basically, I am just looking for ways to do more than just making an annual or monthly donation and calling it a day.
Improving my writing
If you are visiting my blog more or less frequently (love you, thank you 😉 ) you might have noticed, that it is rather quiet around here aside from the odd post here and there. This is not for a lack of things to share, but more because I am not the best writer. It simply doesn’t come easy to me and it takes me ages until a blogpost is finished. I solemnly promise to work on that, though, and make more of an effort you show you more of my work and throw in some tips and tricks every now and then around here too.
On that note, thank you for reading my end of the year ramblings! Happy new year! And see you in 2017!
